If you are a company director, or thinking of becoming one, you must now obtain a director identification number (or DIN). The new requirement for directors to obtain a DIN are coming into effect in stages:
- directors appointed on or prior to 31 October 2021 have until 30 November 2022 to obtain a DIN;
- directors appointed between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022 have 28 days from their appointment as director to obtain a DIN; and
- after 4 April 2022, a person must have a DIN before being appointment as a director.
Nicola Whalley, an associate lawyer in Mahoneys commercial team, has previously discussed the new laws; what directors need to do and by when; and the consequences of not complying – a copy of that article can be found here.
If you would like further information on the mandatory director identification numbers please contact Nicola or the commercial partner, Antony Harrison.
