About

Julie is a senior associate within the property group at Mahoneys.  Julie completed her Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Bond University and was admitted to the legal profession in October 2014. She has spent several years in private practice as well as an in-house legal counsel.

Julie predominately practises in the areas of residential, commercial, rural and industrial property. She specialises in transactional work, property development with a focus on large residential subdivisional projects, high volume off the plan and established conveyancing, distressed asset sales as well as preparing and negotiating lease documentation for both landlords and tenants of retail, commercial and industrial properties.

Julie has acted for a broad range of clients including national property developers, ASX- listed investment managers, Australian financial institutions, not-for-profit entities, State government authority bodies and high net worth individuals.

  • Property development – including site acquisitions under put and call option arrangements, subdivisional work and high volume sales for flat land residential and staged developments
  • Commercial, industrial and retail shop leasing
  • Transactional work for high-wealth agricultural sites including ancillary dealings with water entitlements, livestock, machinery and specific purpose permits
  • Acquisition and disposal of water entitlements including the subdivision and amalgamation
  • Providing strategic property legal advisory work and dispute prevention for Government bodies, not-for-profits, land owners and large Queensland financial institutions
  • Providing corporate advice on capital raising, structuring and restructuring to maximise net proceeds and implement asset protection mechanisms

Recent experience

  • Acted for liquidators, trustees in bankruptcy, receiver/managers and mortgagee in possession in the disposal of distressed property assets
  • Acting for land owners and property developers on site acquisitions subject to put and call option arrangements
  • Acted for a large diversified property group with the acquisition and disposal of major shopping centre sites in Queensland
  • Acted for an ASX-listed specialist investment manager in the acquisition of several high net worth commercial assets nationally
